Is the Past the Future?

let me ask you a question: how relevant is the past?

People say the the past shapes the future. that we learn from the past. that we look to the past to understand new events. But to what extent do we do these things? Do we look at the past, whether it is good or bad and realise it has made us who we are today?

But what happens when your past includes someone else? If the past is experienced in the same way by two people, shouldn't the future, theoretically speaking, be the same for these two people?
Granted, other experiences will influence a person's perceptions of the past. But of the two people's perceptions of the past are different, that means their futures are different. And if the past shapes the future, and their pasts are the same yet their futures are different, whose future is the right one?

I'll give you some advice:
The past forever haunts the future. it is ever present, and you a never fully move on from it. So in order to let yourself move in to the future you have to acknowledge the effects of the past...even if this future you're living isn't the one you imagined for yourself in the past.
