The real India...
Ok, so i have come to the realisation that i am not writing these posts for you all. (if there is anyone actually reading these, i dont know. no one leaves comments...) i am in fact writing them for myself. i like remembering India. its happy and sad all at once, but in a good way.
So last time i wrote about THE event. the wedding! yay! what fun that was. but this time, the post is about the real india.
Everytime you see India on tv, its all about the poverty and children begging on the roadside. with cows everywhere. Or you see the other end of the spectrum, with the fancy-shmancy hotels and amazing tourist spots. They always seem to show Goa and the beack with more british ppl than indians...Im not saying thes
e parts of india dont exist. they do. India is a fantastic place to explore. and i did have beggars coming to my doorstep bc they knew we were foreigners so we would have money. But MY india, what i see as the real india, lies somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. For one, there arent that many cows anymore, at least not in the area i was staying in. Apparently there was some government initiative to get rid of the cows in that area. i was very disappointed. But the india i was staying in was very much like home. it was about the group of friends that were always together. We'd go to the different shopping centres. We were constantly at Spencer plaza. Or we'd go out for lunch. Hang out at someone's house. Play carroms, or watch the soccer (everyone had soccer fever there) the girls went to the beauty parlor the day b4 the wedding and got their nails done. it really is the same as here, just a lot more relaxed, life is very simple, no complications.
But let
me get to the good stuff.....so we would all go out, a big group of us. where did we like to go? well, during the day, it was a place called Mocha. inside, mocha is a family restuarant. we think, we neva actually went inside. Out the back, they have outdoor tables, which is where we were. you can eat out there, which is what some ppl do. Most ppl who sit outside go there for the hooka. (im sure i've spelt that wrong. sorry. but how is it spelt? if u know, plz let me know) Hooka is....well, look at the foto and draw ur own conclusions....that's hooka. now there's not 'naughty' about it. it's only flavoured water, with the teeny tiniest bit of tobacco in it. the green apple flavoured one smells really nice. We went to mocha a few times. But i've deleted all the incriminating fotos so the younger ones who came with us dont get in trouble...But mocha was only during the day. At nite, we would go out clubbing. And my new fave place is bikes and barrels....
