just a thought...

if one negative comment cancels out 10 positive comments and can make a person's self esteem drop and cause them to doubt themselves, why doesnt one positive comment cancel out 10 negative comments and cause someone to feel better about themselves?

  • I think it depends who the person is that makes the comment. How much weight you put behind their words and the words that they are saying.

  • If someone can make a comment that influences you that much they must be very close to you, and I think the strength of a comment (positive or negative) should be equal, in an ideal relationship. I think it ties in with the whole "taking what we have for granted" thing. Sometimes our minds need to gain perspective.
